Jose Patiño was born in Mexico and raised in Phoenix, AZ. He migrated at the age of six with this family. He is a DACA recipient, educator, and organizer. Jose holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. Due to Jose’s activism, he was featured in The Washington Post, MSNBC, NPR, Univision, Vice News Telemundo, Buzzfeed, and Think Progress, among others. He has also been featured in the documentaries The Dream is Now and Underwater Dreams. He also served on the National DACA Advisory Board for Teach for America, the Arizona Department of Education School Safety task force, the City of Mesa Census 2020 task force, and the Students Learn Students Vote advisory board. He is chair of the Arizona Dreamers Scholarship Fund & Board Member of the Phoenix Union Education Foundation.
