Nitza M. Diaz is an Education Consultant with the State Education Resource Center and the CT Parent Information and Resource Center. In this role, Nitza provides coaching, professional development, training, and technical assistance for educators, families, community organizations, and faith-based leaders in areas of family engagement, equity, special education, and multilingual learners. Nitza is a co-lead Consultant for the African-American/Back and Puerto Rican/Latino Curriculum, a course of studies to be offered as an elective option to high schoolers statewide in the 2022-23 school year grams a result of Public Act 19-12 passed in May 2019. Nitza has been the lead Consultant for the Puerto Rican/Latino "side" of the statedeveloped curriculum. Nitza has provided many professional development sessions on social justice, focusing on socio-cultural instructional strategies that reflect the students being served in the district. Her numerous presentations on social equity, bilingual education, and best practice for multilingual students within the community, state, and national levels have been well received by all. Hee not only shares her learning and experiences with her school, but she also finds the time to interact with diverse communities of learners and teachers. In these communities, he promotes reflection; she is quick to point out strengths and constructively provides tips for strengthening areas that need improvement in the schools and districts. Nitza holds a B.A. degree (1995) from Mount Holyoke College, a Master's in Public Health, and a Master of Arts from the University of Connecticut and is currently a doctoral student in education.
