Overview

Ella Baker Institute (EBI) affirms and supports the development of young people of color and their inherent capacity to lead change in their own communities. EBI's core program is Young People’s Leadership Cooperative (YPLC), an after school offering that supports young people in leadership and positive identity development, community organizing skill building, and career connectedness.

With the support of the Boulder Fund, EBI will be able to further resource YPLC. Currently, we focus our work in Brooklyn, NY with a targeted emphasis in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. As YPLC matures in the after-school space, our ultimate aim is to launch an independent micro-school in Brownsville in the 2024-25 school year with YPLC as its centerpiece.
